My father was an Army Chaplain and when he was sent to Vietnam summer of 1968, we moved to Carmel so my mother could be close to her sister. I was fortunate to have been part of the graduating class of 1969 and became acquainted with people from that class and the class of 1970. Luckily, I have been able to restablish a few of those friendships through the Carmel High websites and I am sooo glad.
When my father returned in August of 1969, we moved to Fort Knox, KY, where I became a receptionist for the American Red Cross. I met a soldier there named "Carl Wittreich" and we were married August 21, 1971 in the Carmel United Methodist Church. Carl stayed in the Army for 14 years and we have lived in many places, to include Bamburg, Bavaria, Germany...what a great time that was!! We moved to Southwest Florida September 1982 and have been here ever since. It is a small town called Punta Gorda and it's 100 miles south of Tampa. Love the weather, but I do miss the change of seasons....!
I attended Carmel High only for my senior year (1969) but all of my memories are wonderful..from the friends that I made, our fun times together .. sitting on the bleachers at the ball games.. or just "hanging out" after school and on the weekends. It was the last school I attended and the best of times. Happy, happy memories!
Let's see... how about---John Mill's "beetle" and his dad's camero.. Dave Slipher's "singing" ..wow, so memories, they all came back at once..can't possibly put them all down.
