radical ideas (at the time)

While conversing w/ Christy Black via e-mail & elaborating on my story about being called into Dean Huffer's office 3 weeks before graduation because my sideburns were below my earlobes; I got thinking about other forms of rebellion. I seem to remember "winning the right" to wear blue jeans. Also, wasn't there a court case about long hair?

Tyler Crews was the one who made the news & filed a lawsuit about long hair, but I think he'd transferred to North Central when that took place. I think the rule at the time was that it had to be 2 finger widths above the eyebrows.

Weren't the girls allowed to wear pants for the first time during our senior year?? That was pretty radical back then.

Didn't remember the name, but the NC connection rings a bell. Mayhaps you're right about just the females getting to wear pants...

I remember a math teacher commenting that a girl's pants reminded him of 2 polecats fighting in a gunny sack, or something like that...

Funny, if you look at my Senior picture, my sideburns are way below my earlobes!  Fortunately, however,  I was never called on it.....

I got away with it!

(And, of course, a year later, I wore jeans and long hair in college, as did most of the other guys.)

Mayhaps you flew under the radar...as you can see, by the time graduation came around, they were back. I never went the long hair route, but started growing the beard that Summer of 70...
