After bouncing from Brebeuf to St. Francis, Buffalo, NY and back to Carmel, many of my friends from OLMC graduated from Carmel High School as well. What a great opportunity to be able to chat and even see again my dear old friends with whom I grew up.
Thanks to Janet Radloff for steering me to this website, these thoughts may become a reality. Since 1970 I worked for General Electric for a year before entering the Air Force where I served for a couple of years. I was assigned as a medic at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX, where the first POW's returned from Viet Nam. I then moved to Ft. Wayne with Mom and Dad working in food sales for a couple of years.
I then bought a Mr. Softee ice cream truck and went into business. Hiring others to run the truck, I went to work as a bartender and then married. We moved to Crestwood Addition in Ft. Wayne and began raising our two (2) potential football players before I took another position in sales soliciting businesses with an alarm system developed by one of the NASA engineers. I was soon promoted to Manager and opened a company office in Joliet, Illinois where I continued for another couple of years.
Eventually, I took a sales/manager position with a home improvement company in Lansing, Illinois where I stayed for about eight (8) more years. Meanwhile, I had started a couple of other businesses in home improvement sales and was blessed with my two (2) other children, potential football players, but they were girls. Again, I entered the home improvement sales field with a company located in Chicago and stayed there for a few years before joining another sales company in Hammond, IN where I finally finished my career in sales.
Finding myself in Lebanon, IN as a result of a DUI on the way from Hammond to the Indianapolis 500, I ended up helping to found a halfway house, New Life Recovery Home for Men, which is still in operation today. Meanwhile, I worked over the next five (5) years for Pearson Eduation and Total Logistics in warehouse supervisory capacitiy. Eventually, my travels took me to Indianapolis, where I reside today. The only smart people in my family, my Dad, and two (2) sisters live in California and Arizona...eventually, I'll wise up too.
Today, I am a full-time student at IUPUI with a major in Social Work. I have another eighteen (18) months to go to earn my Master's degree when I plan to work for the Veterans Administration with homeless and recovering veterans.
